Anthony Avello, President (Seat 3, At Large)
Appointed to the NSID Board of Supervisors March 2023, elected to the Board June 2024 and reelected November 2026, Anthony Avello is a retired police officer serving over 27 years with the City of Coconut Creek. He served in many capacities in his police career to include, Patrol Division, Crime Prevention, Development Review Committee, Emergency Operation Team, and Public Information Officer. Mr. Avello has tremendous experience in EOC Operations relating to Emergency Preparedness and was assigned as the Department’s spokesperson developing media relations policies for the dissemination of public records to television and print media. Mr. Avello is deeply rooted in public service where he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Parkland Planning & Zoning Board for nearly 10 years. Additionally, he was appointed to the Parkland Charter Review Board in May 2017 and appointed again in May 2023, where he served as the Vice Chairman.
Vincent J. Moretti, Secretary (Seat 2, Coral Springs)
Mr. Moretti was originally elected to the Board of Supervisors in June 2008 and re-elected June 5, 2024. He has resided in the District for over twenty (20) years and is the President of Pro Bowl Plumbing, Inc. He has over twenty (20) years of experience in the construction and plumbing industry including completing communities for H.A. Cumber, Engle Homes, WCI Communities and Professional Group Associates. His community service includes involvement with Freedom House and Habitat for Humanity as well as many other local causes. Mr. Moretti is a former paramedic and firefighter and continues to hold state certifications in both disciplines. His years of public service have been a great asset to the residents to which he serves.
Tony Montalto, Assistant Secretary (Seat 1, Parkland)
Tony Montalto is a captain for a major airline with over 30 years of experience, flying both
international and domestic routes. He is also a recipient of The President’s Lifetime
Achievement Award for Volunteer Service. Tony has been seen frequently on many local
news broadcasts for ABC, Fox, NBC, and CBS affiliates. Nationally, he has appeared on
NBC’s “Meet the Press”, CBS “The Morning Show”, CNN, CBSN’s “Red and Blue”, “Live Now”
from Fox. Internationally he has appeared on the Australia 10, BBC, CNN International, and
RAI Uno. Tony has also published several Op Ed pieces featured in The Sun-Sentinel,
Newsweek, and The Washington Post about school safety and policy change.
Tony is President of Stand with Parkland – The National Association of Families for Safe
Schools, an advocacy group founded by families that had a loved one killed in the Parkland,
FL school massacre. The organization promotes a unique, inclusive and all-encompassing
approach to safer schools by advocating for improved campus safety, improved mental
health programs, and responsible firearm ownership.
Mr. Montalto was appointed to the NSID Governing Board of Supervisors on March 09, 2026.
Mr. Montalto will serve the community that he has served for several years in a capacity that
supports the great efforts of NSID, which is known for its exceptional service and awards for
its primary functions.
